Rupali Mohindra

Rupali has been lucky enough to achieve some of the greatest successes an artist can accomplish; at a very young age. Since the age of five, Rupali has always enjoyed humming to her favourite songs and TV commercials. Her parents always encouraged her to take her passion for music and dance a step forward and consider them seriously.

Rupali started performing at the age of seven. Her performances were at national and international levels. Rupali auditioned for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs in 2007 and was selected to represent Fiji Islands; the country in which she was living in at the time.

Having received no professional vocal training and fluency in Hindi language (as she was brought up in overseas), she managed to compete against thousands of other international and Indian contestants. Her first performance in the competition was live on stage in front of fifty thousand audiences; in Andheri Sports Complex Mumbai, India.

After passing numerous levels in the singing competition, Rupali represented not only Fiji Islands but also South-East Asia. The nine year old at that time was critically acclaimed by celebrity judges; Sonu Nigam and Suresh Wadekar. During her time in the competition in India, ABC Radio (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) exclusively interviewed Rupali for her outstanding achievement.

After returning to Fiji from the competition, Rupali received many national awards for her achievements. She was honoured as “Person of the Year” Award 2007. Rupali was also the brand ambassador for Fiji’s National Telecom Company; ‘Telecom Fiji Limited.’ In 2008, Rupali began receiving training in Indian Classical Vocal Music and Kathak Dance.

Rupali aims to become a lawyer in the future, however her passion for music and dance continues as she regularly practices every single day to sharpen her skills in this field.
